LOUISVILLE. KENTUCKY APRIL 2019

Adult spring break as I like to call a friends trip to Louisville Kentucky. Louisville is a 6 hour drive from Atlanta that can easily be done to make this trip more cost effective. We were short on time and decide last minute to book a flight that ran us around $300 per person.

Since we have Marriott status that where we most often stay and this trip was no Different, we stayed at The AC Hotel in the NOLO district.

Since we would be spending a day out in bourbon country we rented a 7 passenger SUV, perks of being loyal to a company we got an upgrade to an Infinity.

We arrived Thursday got checked in freshened up and meet our friends at the bar before heading out to Bourbonville Festival. This is a legit bourbon festival as a kick-off to Kentucky Derby with unlimited drinks and food from top distilleries around the state.

I would advise that you purchase tour tickets in advance, I used google maps to plan our trip to allow ample travel time between distilleries.

We got an early start on Friday since we were heading out to taste bourbon, we started with breakfast at Hi-Five doughnuts where I had the friend chicken doughnut. We drove east for about an hour our first stop was Buffalo Trace which happens to be Kentucky's oldest distillery. Admittedly we were all a bit dare I say "hungover" from the night before so we took a few sips of the tasting at the end of the tour before heading out to our next stop. Tours are offered about every hour and are free since they are not "officially" apart of the Bourbon Trail.

Next distillery was Wood ford Reserve, this place is absolutely gorgeous from the grounds as you arrive and continues throughout the tour. Check in staff was extremely friendly and even allowed us to start the tour early since we arrived early. Guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and through. Woodford is seriously good bourbon and was defiantly a favorite among our crew, I think everyone purchased something at the end. This tour was the most expensive at $25 per person.

Next up was The Louisville Castle for lunch, menu was pretty basic if I could offer a suggestion I would add more lunch options as our reservation was for 1:00 PM on Friday and 3/4 of the menu was breakfast.

Last stop of the day was Four Roses, I am not opposed to having a four roses Manhattan here and there but over all while it was a beautiful tasting room with roses ans such around the tasting left much to be desired. This stop was the least favorite among the crew but at only $5 per person it was not a total waste.

Overall Friday was a success and I am glad we decided to rent a car and design our own tour, it allowed for stops along the way and for us to go at our own pace. This option also came out very cheap at roughly $100 per couple with the cost of the car and tours. Most tours from Louisville run you around $160 per person. We grab a fast causl dinner at a BBQ restaurant just down the street from the hotel and had a nap cap at a local tap room.

We got an early start Saturday with Brunch at Proof on Main at The 21 C Hotel, everything was delicious and after we walked around the hotel to admire the art on display.

Next stop was the Mohammad Ali museum which you should defiantly check out if you are in Louisville.

We had a bit more time so we made reservations at a new distillery Angles Envy this stuff is some seriously good stuff. The guide was by far the funniest and most entertaining of them all, I was literally crying from laughing. We were losing 2 of the crew that had a late afternoon flight so after we grabbed some food before dropping them off at the airport.

David and I decided to find a local liquor store and stock up before grabbing friend chicken from the highly recommend Indie's friend Chicken before calling it a night.

Los Cabo

CABO SAN LUCAS. MEXICO JANUARY 2018

Cabo San Lucas is made up of San Jose Del Cabo and Los Cabo. We chose to stay at the beautiful and new JW Marriott located in San Jose Del Cabo. Since we were traveling with a 4 month old we rented a car for ease of getting around. We land around 4:00 PM and took the shuttle over to rental car. We used hertz rental company and the wait was a bit longer than one might expect but luckily since we were staying in San Jose Del Cabo it was a quick 20-30 minute drive to the resort. The JW Marriott is a beautiful property with resort amenities, welcome margaritas, cooking classes, drink classes, and onsite child care.

This was Dawson’s first international trip and he was a trooper the entire time. We took a day to go to Los Cabo and explore and take a boat to see The Arch.

Without a doubt food was the highlight of this trip from excellent options at the hotel to a “hidden” gem close to the hotel named ACRE everything from the food to service was exceptional.

La for atlanta united vs la fc

We popped into LA for a short stay to see Atlanta united take on LA FC, while we lost it was a good trip overall.

WE stayed at The JW Marriott LA LIVE which just so happened to be the hotel Atlanta United was playing at. Great hotel with excellent amenities, lounge had good breakfast and snacks for rewards members, check in was smooth and room service was fast and efficient. This particular property shares a building with The Ritz Carlton so they also share so amenities as well such as restaurants and such.

We arrived Wednesday afternoon took a slow LYFT to the hotel (traffic is an understatement) got checked in and headed to the Dodgers game in you guessed it another slow LYFT. After the game we went back to the hotel ordered room service and crashed.

Thursday was a sightseeing day we started out by picking up a TESLA we rented for the day. First stop of the Day was LA County Museum of Art for some quick photos in front of the lamps and while in the area we walked across the street for Korean tacos that were excellent. Next stop was Rodeo drive for some window shopping followed by a drive out to Santa Monica Beach where we walked along the pier and had a corn dog. No trip to the left coast is complete without a stop by In-N-Out so that was next on our food journey before heading back to the hotel for rest and relaxation at the rooftop pool. We finished off Thursday with dinner at Broken Spanish a restaurant that sells elevated Spanish dishes, the oxtail quesadilla was very tasty. While we have eaten quite a bit and I literally have zero room left in my stomach David insisted I try Roscoe’s so that was the next stop and the chicken did not disappoint the waffle left much to be desired.

This is why loyalty to a brand is so great we were able to get a 4:00 PM check out on Friday since we would be leaving at 12:00 AM after the game on a red eye back to Atlanta. Friday was all about food and Soccer, first activity of the day food tasting with Street Food Tours LA, we stopped in different restaurants that were all really good, if I had one critique of the tour it would be that the guide calls ahead and order the food so we don’t spend so much time waiting for food.

After the tour we went back to the hotel to relax a bit before heading out for pre-game drinks. I think a highlight of the evening was once we returned to the hotel to get our bags the team was arriving as well and David hot to meet some players. He didn’t want to be a man fan so no pictures were taken.
